You’re not the type to go straight down the gut of the most obvious runs. You ride a Weston Backwoods Snowboard, for crying out loud! A freeride board in the shape of a powder chaser, the backwoods excels at all points of your deep snow search. It’s very capable through the variable conditions that may show up on your way to the way out, like wind-scoured traverses or icy entrances, getting you to the goods in one piece. And when that secret run opens up into an untracked bowl, the Backwoods goes full-on pow blaster. A fantastic daily driver for deep-snow areas.

Rocker Type
      Â
   Rocker / Camber / Rocker
      Â
      Â
Directional Freeride Camber–        Subtle rocker in the nose and tail provide additional float without losing stability. Camber underfoot provides confident edge hold and pop
      Â
Flex
      Â
   Flex Rating–        7 (1 Soft – 10 Stiff)
      Â
Shape
      Â
Tapered Directional–        A larger nose provides float in deep snow, while a tapered tail helps to initiate turns quicker.
      Â
Core
      Â
91% Poplar + 9% Bamboo–        Sustainably harvested, the blend keeps the board smoothand surfy with a good amount of pop
      Â
Laminates
      Â
Tri-Axe Glass–        Multi-axis, stitched fiberglass laminate that offers a precise and responsive ride in any Âterrain or snow conditions.
      Â
      Â
Carbon Fiber Stringers–        Stringers running the length of the board increase stiffness throughout. By placing them near the center, the board doesn’t become overly stiff torsionally, making for easy turn initiation. They also allow for equivalent stiffness with less core material needed, reducing overall weight.
      Â
Sidewalls
      Â
Polyurethane–        Polyurethane is poured during construction to form a single, unifiedpiece of sidewall wrapping around the entire core for increased strength and durability. Because of this process, it also creates less waste material than other sidewall options.
      Â
Base
      Â
Sintered Durasurf 4001–        The gold standard in bases. The 4000-series sintered bases have a higher density than other options on the market, and are therefore more durable. Additionally, it absorbs more wax, making for a faster and smoother ride. 4000-series PTEX is usually reserved for only top-of-the-line boards due to a higher manufacturing cost, but at Weston it’s the minimum standard.

-    Terrain:    Freeride, Powder                                    FreerideFreeride snowboards are designed for the rider that spends most of the day off groomed runs and in backcountry terrain. They typically have a stiffer flex and are ridden in longer sizes than freestyle snowboards. Freeride snowboards often feature a directional shape that is designed to perform optimally in one direction.                    PowderPowder snowboards love powder. Often associated with freeride snowboards, powder boards sometimes feature a wider nose and a tapered narrower tail. The binding inserts, which determine the rider’s stance, are often set back on a powder snowboard to help the rider float the tip of the board through the deep stuff. Powder snowboards sometimes also feature rocker, a design element where the tip (and tail) rise starts farther back on the board, which also helps the rider maintain tip float through the pow.           Â
