In fact, the Niseko Pleasures is your ticket. Catch the right day in, say, upstate New York, slash your way into the white room, and for a split second you’ll swear that you have a steaming onsen and a delicious bowl of ramen waiting for you at the bottom of your run. It also comes with a carvey shape and a solid amount of camber between the feet, making it an excellent choice for laying trenches on the not-so-great days, too. Arigato, K2!

Rocker Type

Directional Combination Camber Profile– The best of both worlds. By blending both traditional Camber and Rocker profiles, Combination Camber gives you all the benefits of both: the pop and precision of camber, and the float and predictability of rocker.

Flex Rating– 6 (1 Playful – 10 Precise)

Shape

Volume Shift™– Volume is moved from the tips and tails of traditional snowboard shapes and placed underfoot where it can be better controlled. This makes a wider, shorter design that maintains the same float and stability of a traditional board, but increases mobility and maneuverability. Size down 4-6cm from your uaual snowboard length.

Core

Bambooyah™ Blended Core– Renewable and stronger than hell. Bamboo possesses a higher tensile strength than steel and withstands compression better than concrete, and that’s why these boards come complete with a five year warranty.

Laminates

Biaxial Glass– Smooth all-purpose performance with a no-frills design. Fibers are woven together at 0° and 90°, creating a more forgiving flex pattern.

Carbon Infused 5500 Base– Fast, light, and strong. The Carbon Infused 5500 base is the cream of the crop. By adding carbon to a sintered base, wax retention is increased and drag is decreased for a faster, smoother ride.

Terrain: Freeride, Powder FreerideFreeride snowboards are designed for the rider that spends most of the day off groomed runs and in backcountry terrain. They typically have a stiffer flex and are ridden in longer sizes than freestyle snowboards. Freeride snowboards often feature a directional shape that is designed to perform optimally in one direction. PowderPowder snowboards love powder. Often associated with freeride snowboards, powder boards sometimes feature a wider nose and a tapered narrower tail. The binding inserts, which determine the rider’s stance, are often set back on a powder snowboard to help the rider float the tip of the board through the deep stuff. Powder snowboards sometimes also feature rocker, a design element where the tip (and tail) rise starts farther back on the board, which also helps the rider maintain tip float through the pow.

Ability Level: Advanced-Expert Advanced-ExpertWhether you charge the steepest lines, hit the biggest jumps in the park or carve with race-like precision, advanced to expert level skis, snowboards, boots and bindings are for the more aggressive rider. In skis and snowboards, you’ll often find layers of metal, carbon or other stringers for rigidity and power, while advanced to expert level boots and bindings are usually on the stiffer side of the spectrum for rebound and precision steering.

Rocker Type: Rocker/Camber/Rocker Rocker/Camber/RockerRocker/Camber/Rocker shapes seek to give you both hard-carving edgehold on firm snow from camber underfoot with enhanced turnability and float in powder from the rockered tip and tail. This profile is increasingly popular for freeride boards designed primarily for soft snow.

Flex Rating: Medium MediumThe amount a snowboard flexes varies significantly between boards. Snowboard flex ratings are not necessarily standardized across manufacturers, so the flex may vary from brand to brand. Many manufacturers will give a number rating ranging from 1-10, 1 being softest and 10 being stiffest. Here at evo we have standardized the manufacturers’ number ratings to a feel rating ranging from soft to very stiff. Generally you will find flex ratings of 1-2 as soft, 3-5 as medium, 6-8 as stiff, and 9-10 as very stiff. Flex ratings and feel may ultimately vary from snowboard to snowboard.
