We’ve been dreaming for years of a lighter Rustler 11 that will do dual duty as a freeride ripper and backcountry slayer. The dream becomes reality this season with the introduction of the Blizzard Hustle 11 Skis. Built in the same molds but with a lighter TrueBlend Free Core and a modified Carbon D.R.T. insert instead of the Titanal one, the Hustle 11 kills it on powdery descents without killing you on the skin up. Mount this puppy up with a hybrid tech binding and light the fuse – the fireworks will be a thing of beauty.

Rocker Type

Rocker Camber Rocker– Ski profile with rocker at the tip and tail, camber in the middle. Reducing the pressure on the edge at the tip and tail makes the ski even easier to handle and increases flotation on powder snow. The camber guarantees great grip on packed snow.

Shape

Shape Concept– Progressive wide body style with an aggressive radius. Early rise tail designed to be playful in softer snow.

Core

TrueBlend Free Core– Combining Beech, Poplar and Paulownia woods in a uniquely balanced blend that’s tailored to the performance needs of each Hustler ski, the TrueBlend Free cores are labor-intensive but worth the extra effort.

Carbon Flipcore Technology– A revolutionary rockered ski production process that incorporates a uni-directional carbon frame onto the core of the ski that results in great performance with a light and easy feel.

Laminates

Carbon D.R.T.– The Dynamic Release Technology concept has been thoroughly tested and enthusiastically approved by users of the Rustler series skis, and the carbon iteration pushes the D.R.T. concept even further. Using a shorter Carbon and fiberglass insert rather than Titanal allows Blizzard to keep the strength and stability with less weight.

Skis in this category tend to be on the stiffer side, often with more rocker in the tip and less in the tail. PowderThese skis are for the deep days. If you like to find powder stashes at your local resort, go on backcountry missions for the freshest of fresh or heli ski trips to BC, powder skis are what you need to stay afloat. Skis in the powder category are wide and most often have some form of rocker or early rise plus a relatively soft flex. Many powder skis today are versatile enough to handle mixed conditions and harder snow. Alpine TouringAlso known as backcountry skis, alpine touring (AT) skis are designed for going uphill as well as downhill. These skis are typically light for their width and many feature fittings that accept climbing skins. AT skis vary in width and weight, with the wider heavier versions usually used for winter/deep snow touring and the skinnier, lighter skis usually used for spring/summer/long distance touring.

Ability Level: Advanced-Expert Advanced-ExpertWhether you charge the steepest lines, hit the biggest jumps in the park or carve with race-like precision, advanced to expert level skis, snowboards, boots and bindings are for the more aggressive rider. In skis and snowboards, you’ll often find layers of metal, carbon or other stringers for rigidity and power, while advanced to expert level boots and bindings are usually on the stiffer side of the spectrum for rebound and precision steering.

Rocker Type: Rocker/Camber/Rocker Rocker/Camber/RockerRocker/Camber/Rocker skis have the playfulness and float of a rockered ski as well as the added edge hold of a cambered ski. The contact points on skis with this profile are closer towards the middle of the ski than a fully cambered ski, but still not underfoot. The cambered midsection provides a longer effective edge on hardpack, increasing edge hold and stability, while the rockered tip and tail provide floatation in deeper snow and allow the ski to initiate and release from turns easier.

Turning Radius: Medium Medium17-22 m radius is best for all-mountain and park & pipe.

Tail Type: Partial Twin Tip Partial Twin TipPartial twin tip skis have a tail that is turned up, but not as much as the tip. This gives you the ability to ski backwards and back out of tight spaces, but these skis are mainly designed to ski forward.
